RAPID MIXERS

Flash mixers used in the "Coagulation" (Rapid Mixing / Instant Mix) stage of chemical wastewater treatment plants are high-speed mechanical mixing equipment with high shear power, ensuring that the coagulant chemicals (ferric chloride, aluminum sulfate, PAC, etc.) dosed into the water penetrate every drop of the wastewater completely homogeneously in seconds. 

 The success of chemical treatment depends on how quickly the dosed chemical comes into contact with suspended solids and colloids in the water. 

 If the mixing is not fast and stable enough, the chemical reaction cannot be fully realized, chemical consumption increases, and precipitation efficiency drops. 

 Our flash mixers are characterized by their high motor powers and impeller structures (usually flat-blade turbine or axial flow impeller) with special hydraulic design. 

 The mixer shaft and impellers are manufactured from AISI 316 quality stainless steel or with special plastic/ebonite coating to provide complete protection against chemical corrosion. 

 They usually rotate at high speeds like 900 to 1400 rpm (revolutions/minute) and create a very high turbulence and "G gradient" within the basin. 

 Thanks to this intense mechanical energy, the electrical charges of colloids in the water are neutralized in milliseconds and the formation process of micro-flocs (small lumps) is triggered.

SLOW MIXERS (FLOCCULATORS)

Slow mixers used in "Flocculation" (Agglomeration / Slow Mixing) basins, which come immediately after the rapid mixing (coagulation) stage, are low-speed mechanical equipment that allow micro-flocs, whose charges have been neutralized during the rapid mixing stage, to come together with the help of polymer (polyelectrolyte) added to the water, forming large flocs that can easily settle. 

 The most critical engineering balance at this stage is to create enough movement in the basin to allow the flocs to grow, but to provide gentle and slow mixing (low velocity gradient) that will not pop/break these sensitive and fragile flocs formed. 

 In order to meet this precise process need, our slow mixers are generally designed with "Paddle (Vane) Type" or "Wide Pitch Turbine Type" impellers possessing a large blade area. 

 Their rotation speeds are kept at extremely low levels such as 10 to 40 rpm (revolutions/minute) using a frequency converter (inverter) or fixed reducer. 

 The impeller blades sweep the water gently, leaving no dead spots throughout the entire volume of the basin; 

 in this way, the probability of particles colliding and sticking to each other is maximized while hydraulic shear stress is kept at a minimum. 

 The shaft and paddle structures, entirely made of stainless steel, are equipped with bottom bearing mechanisms that prevent deflection (axial misalignment) even at long basin depths.
