Externally fed drum screens are another rotary screening technology designed for the high-speed and uninterrupted separation of fine solid particles, fibers, and suspended matters in water, widely used especially in the textile industry, paper production, chemical sector, and domestic treatment inlets.
The biggest difference compared to internally fed screens is the direction of the water and the way solid materials accumulate on the drum surface.
This structure shows tremendous success especially in separating fibrous and sticky wastes from water.
In the externally fed drum screen, wastewater is homogeneously poured onto the upper outer surface of the horizontally rotating drum via a special distribution structure (weir).
The water is filtered inwards through the pores on the outer surface of the drum (between the wedge-wire profile wires) and transferred to the facility from the clean water collection basin under the drum.
Solid materials, on the other hand, are retained on the outer surface of the drum. As the drum rotates, these wastes remaining on the surface are continuously scraped from the surface by means of a special scraper blade (doctor blade) placed on the front surface of the drum and fall into the waste container.
The pores of the screen are always kept open with continuous or timed washing waters applied from the inner part.
